The Turtle Gallery is proud to represent potter Tim Christensen.

Christensen works in porcelain because it endures. Long after languages shift and technologies fade, porcelain remains — quiet, bright, and nearly eternal. Into this material, he carves the stories of living now: the chaos that surrounds us, the tenderness that saves us, the moments of astonishment that stop the breath in the throat.

Sgraffito allows Christensen to cut directly into time. Each line becomes a record, a mark meant for eyes far beyond his own era. Yet the world is shaped not only by intention, but by accident, upheaval, and the wildness of natural forces. To honor that truth, Christensen fires his pieces in gas and wood kilns where ash, flame, salt, and oxygen swirl in unpredictable ways. The kiln becomes a storm, and the work must weather it.

“What emerges is never what I expect,” Christensen says. “Each piece carries both my hand and the hand of chance. Each one is a small, durable testament to what it means to live in a world where certainty is slipping, and beauty still insists on appearing.”

Work will be on display all season.
