Bangor’s Sohns Gallery, located inside The Rock and Art Shop, will open an exhibition featuring artwork by local artist Jeff Wahlstrom on July 3.
An opening reception will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. July 3, with an artist talk at 5:30 p.m. The exhibition showcases Wahlstrom’s watercolor collages and block prints, which capture the essence of the Maine landscape.
The evening will also serve as the book launch for “Island Time,” a new chapbook that brings together poetry and prose by Robin Clifford Wood, illustrations by Wahlstrom and design and binding by book artist Walter Tisdale. Wood is known for her biography “The Field House.”
Copies of “Island Time” and a broadsheet will be available for purchase during the reception. Admission is free.
Wahlstrom is a Maine-based artist specializing in block prints and watercolor collages that celebrate natural forms and coastal life. Wood is an author and poet whose work includes “The Field House: A Writer’s Life Lost and Found on an Island.” Tisdale is a book artist recognized for his book design and fine press printing.
