The Kittery Art Association presents “Atmosphere,” an exhibition exploring the invisible forces that shape perception, energy and emotion, through Aug. 30 in Kittery.
The exhibition invites artists to interpret experiences such as the electricity of connection, the calm before a storm and the stillness of a misty morning, transforming what is felt into something that can be seen, touched and absorbed.
An opening reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 9. The event is free and open to the public.
Also on view is work by spotlight artist Timothy Hinkle, a mixed-media artist who combines cut and pressed flowers, other natural materials, paper and paint. Rooted in the rhythms of the natural world, Hinkle’s work reflects on cycles of growth, decay and renewal, finding beauty in each stage of life from budding and blooming to withering.
His work has appeared in group exhibitions throughout New England and in a solo exhibition at the Denmark Arts Center. He has also been invited to exhibit as a guest artist at Gallery 302 in Bridgton and has been featured in the international art publication Spreads Magazine.
The Kittery Art Association is at 2 Walker St., Kittery. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Saturday and Sunday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. For more information, call 207-451-9384, email info@kitteryartassociation.org or visit www.kitteryartassociation.org.
