Jean Kigel Studio + Gallery in Waldoboro presents Kigel’s 26th annual “Eastern Views” from Aug. 7 to 9.

The solo exhibition features recent paintings in a range of subjects and media. Kigel’s prismatic seascapes include work that will also appear in an exhibition at Craignair Gallery on Clark Island later this month. Her underwater oil paintings depict horseshoe crabs, lobsters, oysters and shrimp, while her watercolors and Asian brush paintings explore colorful gardens and the green hills of Ireland.

The exhibition also includes a selection of unframed, hand-pulled gyotaku fish prints. The Maine Art Gallery in Wiscasset recently filmed Kigel demonstrating the traditional Japanese printing technique, and the video will be available online through the gallery.
