ART SPACE Laurie
Laurie Lofman Bellmore, “Rockland and Owl’s Head Lighthouse.”

Art Space Gallery in Rockland features work by Laurie Lofman Bellmore, Shelley Nolan and Hannah Nelsbach in its Front Room throughout September.

The gallery will welcome visitors from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 4 during Rockland’s First Friday Art Walk, with refreshments and an opportunity to meet gallery members.

LAURIE LOFMAN BELLMORE

Laurie Lofman Bellmore presents small metal works created using cloisonné hot enamels, a centuries-old technique employing hand-folded fine silver wires and kiln-fired vitreous enamels.

Bellmore describes the process as visually beautiful but exhaustive and will provide information about her technique alongside the work in the gallery.

ART SPACE Shelley
Shelley Nolan, “Sea Plant.”

SHELLEY NOLAN

Shelley Nolan draws inspiration from Maine’s coast for her fused-glass work. Her pieces include glass castings made from seashells, bowls inspired by fishing nets and sea plants suggesting movement in ocean currents.

ART SPACE Hannah
Hannah Nelsbach, “The Old Castle,” “The Catacombae” and “The Great Gate of Kiev.”

HANNAH NELSBACH

Hannah Nelsbach presents three gouache-on-canvas works inspired by Modest Mussorgsky’s 1874 piano suite “Pictures at an Exhibition”: “The Old Castle,” “The Catacombae” and “The Great Gate of Kiev.”

Nelsbach’s paintings explore the music’s feeling, rhythm, composition, design and color. The recurring “Promenade” from Mussorgsky’s composition appears as a visual element connecting the three works.
