Belfast Creative Coalition (BCC), a Belfast-area nonprofit organization that promotes arts and culture in Waldo County, is pleased to announce a new initiative featuring written profiles of their members.
BCC members, who are generally local artists, artisans, and makers, vary widely in their areas of skill and interest; the written profiles, highlighted on BCC’s website, are meant to highlight that variety.
“We want people living in the Belfast area to get to know their local artists,” says BCC Membership Coordinator Julia Clapp, who is writing the profiles. “Many people aren’t aware of the many artists’ studios that are all over the midcoast. All of these artists are inspiring, and all of them have interesting stories. Additionally, many of them want to share knowledge of their crafts.” Some BCC member artists offer classes and workshops at their studios.
The member profiles are centered around interviews with the artists that take place at their workspaces. So far, the responses to the profiles that have been published have been very positive. “We’re excited to bring the stories of our creative community to neighbors and visitors alike,” says BCC Executive Director Emily Baer, “and we hope to grow this initiative in the coming months.”
