The Southport Memorial Library is pleased to announce a wine and cheese reception to open an exhibit of Edgecomb artist Bob Thomas’ work on Thursday evening, May 4th from 7 until 9 o’clock.
Thomas, whose work is vibrant, deeply textured modernist paintings, was born in the United States, but spent most of his first 18 years in Beirut, Lebanon, where his father worked. His current work, landscape-inspired abstracts, was influenced by the textures and layers of the ancient walls and buildings he knew during those years, combined with the blues, greens, and oranges of Maine’s coast, forests, and sunsets.
Thomas’ paintings will be on display at the Southport Memorial Library, 1032 Hendricks Hill Road in Southport from May 4th until July 30th. One-third of the price of any painting sold during this exhibition will be donated to the library. The Southport Memorial Library is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 9am to 4pm, with additional evening hours of 7pm to 9pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
For further information, contact the Southport Memorial Library (207-633-2741) or Bob Thomas (207-882-5569).
