Centre St Arts Gallery, LLC, invites the public to a reception celebrating a new exhibition with guest artist Sarah Greenier, of Bath, on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016 at 11 Centre Street, Bath from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.  Admission is free and light refreshments will be served.

Twenty Maine artist members work in a wide variety of styles and media, producing new work for every show.  All work is original, with framed and matted pieces available, and sculpture in stone, clay and bronze.

Sarah Greenier grew up on Orr’s Island, graduated from Oak Grove School in Vassalboro, and went on to study graphic design at Pratt Institute in New York.  After college, she returned to Maine and worked in commercial art for ten years.  In 1996 she began exhibiting and selling her paintings at art shows throughout New England, winning numerous awards.  In 2006, with husband Tom Greenier, she opened the Greenier Studio/Gallery next to their home at 428 Middle Street in Bath, where she paints, exhibits her work and teaches. Painting closer to home is also more personal, and our best work seems to be of those places that are most meaningful to us.

I most enjoy painting quintessential Maine scenes.  My oil paintings are designed to depict island and coastal living at its best, and convey a sense of place. Outdoor painting has helped me to see and feel my subject in a way that I can transmit that excitement into my work.  My goal as an artist is to express a feeling, a moment in time – and to evoke that in the viewer as well.”

Sarah and artists of the Centre St Gallery will be in attendance at the Opening Reception on Friday, Sept. 9, from 5 to 7 pm at 11 Centre Street in Bath.  For more information, please call the Centre St Arts Gallery at 207-442-0300.  The gallery is open 7 days a week during July and August, and September.
