The Center for Maine Contemporary Art will host its June ArtLab for All Ages workshops via Facebook Live while its doors are closed to the public in response to CDC guidelines on COVID-19.
Artists of all ages are invited to join ArtLab educators Mia Bogyo and Alexis Iammarino for the third livestream workshop, which will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. June 6 at facebook.com/cmcanow. Following the workshop, participants are encouraged to share their work in a community show and tell via Zoom at 3:30 p.m. To participate in the Zoom video call, email Mia Bogyo at mbogyo@cmcanow.org for a Zoom link.
The theme for the June ArtLab is inspired by the work of artist Anne Neely, on view in the current exhibition “Skirting the Line.” The exhibition can be viewed in advance of the workshop at cmcanow.org/virtual-tours. Drawing on Neely’s work as inspiration, workshop participants will be introduced to a variety of painterly processes to create their own personal narratives. A materials list will be posted to CMCA’s Facebook page and website prior to the start of the workshop.
