Kittery Maine – April 1, 2022 – Haley Art Gallery kicks off its 2022 season with Reimagined Memory a solo exhibit of primarily figurative works by Kittery-based artist, Barbara D’Antonio, with an opening reception on Saturday, April 16, 3-6pm. The Gallery will host an Artist’s Talk by D’Antonio on Saturday, May 7, 1-3pm. The event, free and open to the public, is a perfect pre-Mother’s Day activity to attend and select an original for Mother’s Day gifting.

The exhibit will remain on view through June.

Modern Figurative artist, Barbara D’Antonio’s paintings are influenced by the Post Impressionists’ works in The Barnes Foundation, specifically, Bonnard and Matisse. She’s inspired by the artists that have come before her….and her work includes a little bit of reimagined memory, and a whole lot of art history. Her works are in private collections in the United States as well as in Crete, Greece and Spinetoli, Italy where she lived and worked in the summers between 1985 through 2014. Her Arts education includes such Pennsylvania arts institutions as Main Line Center for the Arts, Bryn Mawr College, Haverford College, The Barn’s Foundation, and the Fleisher School of Art.

The Gallery will donate 20% of its April/May profits to Kittery’s Fair Tide which helps reduce homelessness by providing housing and supportive services to individuals and families in the Seacoast.

The gallery’s gift shop showcases social impact gift items “handmade by women” from around the world. Gallery is open: Thursdays – Saturdays 11am to 6pm.
