Flower Exchange

The George Marshall Store Gallery invites the community to participate in The Flower Exchange, co-organized with Elizabeth Brown of Foxglove Farmhouse. This is a reimagining of traditional “art in bloom” events. Community members are invited to share flowers from their garden or create arrangements that will be installed among the works in “Cross-pollination,” on exhibit from July 19 to Aug. 17.

Open to all flower lovers in the community, this initiative is inspired by a desire to foster joy, connection and creativity.

As garden season approaches, plan your plantings with The Flower Exchange in mind. Plant extra to share, use the opportunity to grow something new, find visual inspiration in your favorite artworks or artists, or invite your friends to do the same.

“Cross-pollination” will celebrate the overlap between artmaking and gardening as conduits for creativity, community, sustenance and healing. The show brings together the following eight artists whose practices run parallel to work in the garden: Dina Andretta, Sasha Azbel, Clementine Cavanaugh, Kristen Kieffer, Nicole Kiernan, Sarah Steedman, Cathy Rees and Robin Reynolds.

George Marshall Store Gallery, located at 140 Lindsay Road, York, is a contemporary art space specializing in exhibitions of emerging and mid-career artists from Maine and New England. See www.georgemarshallstoregallery.com for more information.
