“Half a Boat is Better Than None” by Deb Bergman.

Local Color Gallery will hosted its second Fourth Friday Event on March 28, where new gallery member artist Deb Bergman gave a short artist talk. The work of guest artist Sumner Roberts continues to be on display, and the members of Local Color are showing new works as well.

Maine artist Deb Bergman likes to call painting her “third chapter,” after her career in nurse-midwifery and as owner of a fiber arts shop in Stockton Springs. Now living in Orono, Bergman has rediscovered her love for studio art and has studied art at the University of Maine and through workshops. She works in acrylics, oils and mixed media.

Bergman cites her wide travel experience as a source of artistic inspiration. About her body of work she says, “I love to take an image from everyday life and recreate it so others can see what I see. In these days of chaos and turmoil, I hope my work brings a sense of tranquility and peace to the viewer.” Her work can be found in private collections in the U.S. and Sweden and is currently sold in several venues in Maine.

Local Color Gallery is at 135 High St., Belfast. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Learn more at localcolorgallerymaine.com.
