PEMA Applegate Barbara Lowtide Long Cove acrylic
Work by Barbara Applegate.

On view at the Pemaquid Art Gallery this season are two experienced, sea and landscape artists with very different approaches to interpreting Maine’s iconic views.

Barbara Applegate’s newest visual language involves using acrylic paint in brilliant colors and geometric shapes in a contemporary, angular style. Kim Traina works in pastels and oil paint, depicting atmospheric, luminous scenes and is fascinated by the spiritual, transformational power of nature.

Applegate is an art school graduate with a BA from Dickinson College. In addition to the Pemaquid Art Gallery and her own gallery in Bristol, Applegate’s work can be seen at the Black River Gallery in Boothbay Harbor and on her website, www.barbaraapplegate.com.
