Adrienne Kernan LaVallee “Here Comes the Rain Again” 36”x36”. Oil on canvas.

“Creativity is the willingness to experiment and often. Sometimes one is successful, other times not, but as a painter I push myself to take chances with every composition. Building up textural passages and creating a lively flow of spectral dots and dashes, I seek to visually express the energy and movements found in nature, all around us. Since the natural world as we see it doesn’t always translate into an interesting work of art, I lean upon my senses and use my imagination to invent the final impression. If viewers are moved by my paintings, eg, my art evokes that special feeling, a memory, or the work is simply visually satisfying, then I have succeeded as a painter.”

LaVallee’s work is part of a group of three solo exhibitions, “Color, Shape, Light,” opening to the public at Maine Art Hill in Kennebunk at 10 a.m. June 14 and continuing through July 2.

Also exhibiting in “Color, Shape, Light” are artists Janis H. Sanders and Kathleen Robbins.
