SHAW MARIAH READING
Work by Mariah Reading is on view at Shaw Jewelry.

Shaw Jewelry invites art lovers and collectors to an exciting evening of art, design, and conversation from 5 to 7 p.m. July 17 at its gallery in Northeast Harbor. This lively opening marks the start of an exhibition running through July 30, featuring three remarkable artists whose work draws deeply from the natural world and transforms it into wearable or visual art.

Seth Carlson’s sculptural jewelry emerges from a fascination with zoology, where imagined animal phyla take shape through meticulous craftsmanship. His kinetic forms are inspired by insects and exoskeletons, and his favored techniques — chasing and repousse, fold-forming, and intricate fabrication — bring these creatures to life with textured surfaces, rich patinas, and embedded gemstones. Visitors can meet Carlson at the gallery July 24 to 26.

Lithuanian-born Audrius Krulis brings playful elegance to his creations, shaped by a sculptor’s eye and a reverence for natural forms. With a Master’s degree in Sculpture from the Vilnius Fine Arts Academy, Krulis explores the dynamic tension between artist and wearer, forging a quiet dialogue through form, history, and organic fluidity. He will be present at Shaw Jewelry from July 17 to 19 to engage with attendees and share his inspiration.

Mariah Reading, trained as a traditional landscape painter, turned her creative focus to environmental impact and became an Eco Artist. By transforming discarded debris into striking artworks, she blurs the boundary between waste and wonder. Her work involves photographing these repurposed objects in their original landscapes, creating illusions of beauty layered over trash, simultaneously hiding and honoring the material. She will be present at the opening reception July 17.
