“Unmoored,” a mixed media creation by Debra Arter, can be seen in the Maine Art Gallery show “Made in Maine” through Oct. 18.

The Maine Art Gallery in Wiscasset opened its last exhibition of the season on Aug. 28. It includes work by member artists from throughout the state. “Made in Maine,” which runs through Oct. 18, is the annual members’ show of works in painting, drawing, textiles, sculpture, photography and assemblage.

An opening reception from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. coincides with Wiscasset’s Art Walk. Refreshments will be served, with music by singer-songwriter Jud Caswell. Regular gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.

This annual show provides member artists an opportunity to exhibit their work in a particularly fine exhibit space, Wiscasset’s former Old Academy building on Warren Street. Member participation helps to make the Maine Art Gallery sustainable and plays an important part in its mission of building community through the arts.

The gallery thanks season sponsor Sherri Dunbar of Tim Dunham Realty and capital sponsor Islebrook Villages at Wiscasset.

In September and October, Jude Valentine will lead workshops for beginner to intermediate adult artists. “Working Angles: Landscape Perspective” on Sept. 8 offers remedies for problems such as buildings and structures that don’t look quite right. “Capturing the Light: Layering Color” on Oct. 6 is a mixed water media workshop. Visit maineartgallerywiscasset.org for registration deadlines and details.
