LOCAL COLOR
“#50” by Sandra Huck.

Local Color Gallery is pleased to welcome back guest artist Sandra Huck whose work will be on display from Jan. 21 through Feb. 21 at the gallery in Belfast. Huck will talk about her work, “Conversations with Found Objects,” at this month’s Art Walk reception, which runs from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 23. Huck will speak at 5 p.m. weather permitting.

Huck explores the inherent beauty of found objects by integrating them into mixed-media reliefs on canvas. This fusion of materials allows her to create textured, multidimensional compositions that speak to the intersection of time and transformation. Each piece becomes a conversation between raw, often discarded materials and the mindful arrangement she imposes on them.

Over time, Huck’s work has deepened in its exploration of the boundaries between traditional sculpture and two-dimensional art forms. Through this practice, she has learned to embrace the unexpectedness of found materials. Each find — a rock, feather, driftwood or a piece of rusted metal — carries its own unique beauty.

Huck studied art at the University of Maine at Presque Isle and advanced sculpture at Teachers College in New York City. She lives in Caribou.

Local Color Gallery is located at 135 High St., Belfast. Winter hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 11 to 4. Learn more at localcolorgallerymaine.com.
