Alison Croney Moses and Alisha B. Wormsley joined Indigo Arts Alliance July 6 and will be in residence through Aug. 6 as part of the organization’s Mentorship Residency Program.
Moses is a Boston-based artist working primarily in wood. Her work explores themes of family, relationships, pregnancy, childbirth, safety and care, investigating private and personal life experiences that often encourage isolation and deterioration. Through her work, Moses sparks dialogue, builds community and creates space for processing through care and repair.
Wormsley is a Pittsburgh-based interdisciplinary artist and cultural producer whose work exists at the intersections of public art, film, craft and social practice. Her practice transforms public space and collective imagination through projects rooted in liberated futures, ritual and community care.
Indigo Arts Alliance will also host two free public engagement events in July.
The first, a listening party for “SUNCATCHER,” the new album from Sascha Rose ’26, will be held July 17 at Black Seed Studio, 71 Cove St., Unit B, Portland. Rose, Indigo Arts Alliance’s current David C. Driskell Fellow, will share a brief look into the creative process before playing the album in full. Rooted in drum machine samples, the album marks a shift from Rose’s ambient singer-songwriter work into dance-driven glitch-hop, experimental beats and trip-hop. No registration is required.
An artist talk with Moses and Wormsley will be held July 18 at Indigo Arts Alliance, 60 Cove St., Portland. The morning conversation will center on the artists’ evolving practices and the intersections between them. Working across craft, sculpture and socially engaged art, both artists investigate family, relationships and the layered experiences of mothering. Their work offers visions of Black and Indigenous futurity, foregrounding care, safety and collective visibility.
Indigo Arts Alliance is also continuing its Summer Solar Sustainability Campaign, which supports the organization’s work with Black and Brown artists and its long-term sustainability.
Indigo Arts Alliance is at 60 Cove St., Portland. For more information, go to indigoartsalliance.me.
