Produced by the Maine Crafts Association, the Portland Fine Craft Show returns for its sixth season with an outdoor juried fine craft show in Portland from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 28. Admission is free.
After five seasons taking over Congress Street, the show has moved to the large parking lot beside the old Children’s Museum on Free Street. Find the festival at 120 Free Street.
The show features more than 100 artists from Maine and the Northeast, exhibiting fine baskets, ceramics, fiber, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, paper goods, stone and wood. Shoppers can visit outreach booths to learn about other Maine arts organizations alongside artist exhibitors offering handcrafted items for dining, wearing, collecting, gifting and decorating.
MCA is pleased to announce Ebenezer Akakpo, of South Portland, designed and developed a new visual identity for the 2021 show. His design features a pattern incorporating the Adinkra symbol for Unity in Diversity used in his native country, Ghana. Akakpo is a longtime Portland Fine Craft Show exhibitor and Maine Crafts Association Member who makes home goods and jewelry featuring his patterns and designs. Find him in booth #807.
The new Free Street Lot location is attractive for its proximity to the original show location, safety and, like the original location, its accessibility from major Portland Arts District attractions: Portland Museum of Art, Space Gallery, Maine Craft Portland, Maine College of Art and both the Old Port and the West End.
Arrive early to receive a free 2021 show tote featuring Ebenezer’s 2021 show design.
