
The Center for Maine Contemporary Art (CMCA) is proud and honored to share that Mia Bogyo, CMCA’s Education Programs Manager, has been awarded the 2023 Maine Art Education Association’s Award for Excellence in Art Advocacy.

Maine learners have been given a consistent and unwavering gift with your supportive mission of arts celebration as you successfully transformed the delivery of learning opportunities during the past three and a half years specifically.” – Maine Art Education Association
MAEA will host a ceremony Saturday, March 11th, from 3:00PM-6:30PM, during the Youth Art Month Celebration at the Portland Museum of Art as part of a statewide recognition of art educators and programs in Maine schools. Matthew Johnson of Westbrook School Dept. will be awarded as 2023 Maine Art Educator of the Year.
Mia Bogyo is the Education Programs Manager for CMCA where she oversees a broad slate of arts education programs serving visitors of all ages. She is both an art educator and community artist with experience teaching in public schools, non-profits, and art centers for the past 9 years. She received a BFA in Ceramics with K-12 Art Education Certification from the University of Southern Maine.
The Maine Art Education Association (MAEA) is a statewide professional organization whose members are committed to excellence in visual arts education. The non-profit organization is led by current art educators across Maine with the goals: to encourage best practices in visual arts classrooms in all Maine schools; to foster high quality teaching in visual arts and provide professional opportunities in education and artistic practice; provide a forum of exchange of ideas, support collaborations among educators and art agencies to ensure quality programs for all learners.
