Twenty members showed up at the March 9 UMVA member meeting at the Camden Public Library, where they decided they’d meet bi-monthly, alternating between Belfast Free Library and Camden Public Library. When inclement weather precludes meeting in person, they meet via Zoom.
There are several shows on the books for UMVA members beginning in July. When “Carlo and his Merry Band of Artists” will be screened at the Waldo Theatre in Waldoboro on July 25, there will also be an artist reception for the juried show “Life is a Carnival: from the figurative to the abstract.” It runs July 5 to Aug. 4, and the call for art will likely be announced in April.
Other shows in 2024 will be a possible Midcoast Studio Tour called Artober. Nancy Davies Tang invites artists interested in opening their studios to the public in October concurrent with statewide open craft studios and an exhibition called “Refuge,” inspired by the Maine Coastal Islands Refuge, flora and fauna of the islands and protected coastal areas, as well as broader interpretations of “refuge.”
