 “Emerald Falls” by Jean Kigel.

Currently Jean Kigel Studio + Gallery is featuring Asian brush paintings.

Chinese brush painting is believed to be one of the oldest continuing artistic traditions in the world. It has been practiced since around 770 BCE, when artists in the Eastern Zhou dynasty began to depict the natural world. Brush painting and calligraphy have been highly valued art forms throughout Chinese history.

Kigel’s brushwork reads well for Maine and for Asia.

Jean Kigel Studio + Gallery is at 1396 Back Cove Road in Waldoboro. The gallery is open daily with flexible hours. Call first is recommended at 207-832-5152. For more information or to view paintings, visit www.jeankigel.com.
