With over 60 artists participating in the Art Auction, The Carlo Pittore Costume Ball and Art Auction brought in over $4,000 to create and support UMVA’s new website. It gave UMVA artists a wonderful chance to mix and mingle at the Bowdoinham Historical Society’s Merrymeeting Hall on Aug. 3. Bowdoinham is where Carlo lived and had his studio. Being able to put faces to the emails that are sent around was so much fun. The crowd was estimated to be around 100 at its height.
“Magic, Myth, Machine & Matter” is the title of the Sept. 6 to 29 UMVA (Union of Maine Visual Artists) exhibition at the Oak Street Lofts Gallery, 72 Oak St., Portland, featuring UMVA members Eva Rose Goetz, Gregg Harper, William Hessian and Abbeth Russell. An opening reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 6. Gallery hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sundays until Sept. 29.
