Paul Trowbridge shows his latest work this August at the Blue Hill Bay Gallery on Tenney Hill Street in the heart of Blue Hill.
Trowbridge’s work is inspired by the area where he lives on the Blue Hill peninsula. He is fascinated with the intertidal zone where so much activity takes place and paints on the scene or in his studio from memory, imagination, sketches and photos.
“In plein air painting, I try to be straightforward and keep things fresh and without preconceptions,” he says. “Back in the studio, I try to do the same but with more time to explore ideas suggested from the original observation.
