Courthouse Gallery Fine Art in Ellsworth is presenting “Ellsworth as Muse,” an exhibition celebrating the city that has been home to the gallery for the past 20 years. Ellsworth holds layers of history, activity and character that extend beyond a single narrative, and participating artists were invited to explore those layers and offer fresh perspectives on the city that organizers said will surprise and engage residents and visitors alike.

On June 3, the gallery hosted a gallery talk about the exhibition featuring Carl Little, Philip Frey and Kate Hanlon.

Participating artists include Siri Beckman, Philip Barter (1939–2024), Jeffery Becton, Judy Belasco, Ard Berge, Carroll Thayer Berry (1886–1978), Tom Curry, Heidi Daub, Gregory Dunham, Rick Fox, Philip Frey, Kate Hanlon, William Irvine, Richard Keen, Joseph Keiffer, B Millner (1939–2026), Rosie Moore, Alison Rector and Gilbert Welch.

“Ellsworth as Muse” remains on view through July 10.
