Mars Hall Gallery Opens Season

Mars Hall Gallery opens its 2020 season on June 19 with the group show “Leo & Company.” This exhibit showcases work by the late Leo Brooks, along with other gallery artists.

Brooks, who lived through the Great Depression, would sympathize with us today.

Also featured are oil and acrylic paintings by Nancy Baker, Kris Johnson, Stephen Jonassen, Sharon Larkin, Maurice Michel Lode, Jimmy Reed, Manuel Rincon, Carl Sublett and Ron Weaver; watercolors by Linda Funk, Nat Lewis, Cam Noel, Elaine Reed and Carl Sublett; and outsider art by Ian Baird, Bill Cook, Bill Nichols, Elaine Niemi and the late Rudy Rotter.

New works in collage by Eleanor Zuccola will also be on display. Her piece “The Catcher” was a Cash Award Winner at the National Collage Society’s 23rd annual Small Format Exhibit in March and April held at The Boyer Gallery Center for the Arts at the Hill School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania.

A welcomed addition to Mars Hall this year is 3D assemblage work by Ron Crusan. Crusan has been an artist for over 40 years, working in many mediums, as well as a museum curator and director and a lecturer who has published several essays. He has shown his work around the world and has won numerous awards. Works on display are from his American Block Series and Sculptural Assemblages using found objects.

The gallery also offers a variety of quality crafts, including decoupage by Davene Fahy, handmade jewelry by Nance Trueworthy and 3D stained glass, mosaics and pottery by Dona Bergen. Metal sculptors Jay Hoagland and Brian Read will have works on display throughout the gallery as well as outside in the sculpture gardens. Books by several gallery artists, a large collection of original 1960s and ’70s rock posters and a variety of antiques and collectibles are also available.

The show will evolve through the summer and will come to a close on Oct. 12. Due to COVID-19, no receptions will be held this year. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday and by appointment. Masks and social distancing is required, per CDC guidelines.
