Painting by Jean Kigel.

Now is the time to tuck ourselves under winter’s quilt. At Jean Kigel’s Back Cove Studio & Gallery, “Winter’s Quietude” features a series of oils and watercolors celebrating the stillness and beauty of winter.

Kigel says, “I welcome this season that many others dread. It proffers time for solitude, contemplation, and creativity. My winter paintings are sparser, but more meditative. Some rise from imagination, others from observation.”

Paintings, both whimsical and realistic,  include scenes of local villages, woods, Latvia, hay rolls, sugar shacks and Northern Lights.

The gallery is open all fall and winter by appointment. If one is inclined to venture to 1396 Back Cove Road in Waldoboro, he or she will find large and small choices reasonably priced for oneself or for others.

Call 207-832-5152 for more information or to make an appointment.

Kigel is a member of the Union of Maine Visual Artists and the Sumi-e Society of America. Her work can be seen at www.jeankigel.com.
