Monkitree invites you to join us for the opening of “Reset in the Vibrancy of Nature: The Odyssey of Light Throughout Maine,” a show of works by Andrea Darok.
The show is on view May 17 to July 13.
Darok seeks refuge in the natural world to reset and refresh her senses, explaining “As an artist, nature is my sacred place to reflect and cultivate my joy for living.” In Maine, the natural world has much to offer. It is a place where inspiration can be found simply by stepping outside. It is within the context that Darok creates.
With a background in graphic and interior design, Darok brings a multidisciplinary perspective to her art. Her works often incorporate a variety of mediums and techniques, resulting captivating mixed-media pieces that stretch the boundaries of traditional art forms. Through her artwork, Darok seeks to create a harmonious blend of bold elements, reflecting her diverse experiences and influences.
Born in Budapest, Hungary, Darok’s journey in the arts began as a classically trained ballet dancer. Darok developed an innate sense of movement and grace during these formative years that would later influence her artwork. In addition to the solo show at Monkitree, Darok had work in a group show at Triangle Gallery in Rockland in May.
Monkitree is at 263 Water St., Gardiner. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, as well as by appointment. Go to www.monkitree.com for additional information.
