The Maine Crafts Association, in partnership with the Maine Arts Commission and the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, proudly announce the opening of the eighth annual Craft Apprentice Program Capstone Exhibition. The event will be held at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts in Edgecomb, opening Oct. 4 and running through Oct. 29.
A reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 4, featuring live music and refreshments, with the opportunity for guests to meet the artists and browse completed pieces.
The exhibition celebrates the culmination of a seven-month journey of growth, creativity and learning between mentor craft artists and apprentices from Maine and New Hampshire.
The scope of the 2024 apprenticeship cycle spanned green wood furniture making, basket weaving, natural dyeing and hand weaving, wood instrument creation, wheel thrown and hand-built pottery, wood firing and sustainable textiles.

“It has been a joy to witness the mentors and apprentices engage in creative exploration, each pair so unique but equally passionate in their work,” says Whitney Gill, Maine Crafts Association executive director. “This exhibition reflects one hundred hours of intensive, transformative research and knowledge sharing between dedicated craftspeople. We welcome the public, our dear community of friends and supporters, to join us in celebration of this great accomplishment.”
The Barkan Gallery will be open from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. on weekdays and by appointment for the duration of the exhibition. This event is free and open to the public.
