Northeast Harbor’s Shaw Jewelry will feature work by Petra Class Studio, Peter Decamp Haines, Anne McGrory and Elyse Allen Textiles from July 2 to 15.
An opening reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. July 2. McGrory and Allen will attend.
Petra Class Studio creates gemstone and gold jewelry intended to seduce and attract the eye, fulfilling the ancient human need for adornment and invoking awe for the beauty of nature. Recurring themes include rhythmical arrangements of several elements, repetition of similar forms or colors and unexpected contrasts of differently textured materials.
Peter Decamp Haines, who lived from 1942 to 2024, was constantly building form and aware of the space between. The exhibition presents 100 hand-held bronzes linked through shared aesthetic, surface, texture, form and intent.
“A doughnut is defined by its hole. If one accepts space as part of the doughnut, where does the doughnut end?” Haines wrote.

McGrory creates miniature still lifes with gold leaf. With a biologist’s attention to detail, she elevates shells and insects to objects of reverence. Her small, jewel-like paintings float on gold leaf in an ethereal glow.
Allen’s recent work focuses on crystal-studded Scottish cashmere and embellished knit textiles, including gloves, shawls, capes and hats. She studied sculpture and textile design at the Rhode Island School of Design and is based in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Shaw Jewelry is at 128 Main St., Northeast Harbor. Call 207-276-5000, email info@shawjewelry.com, or go to shawjewelry.com for more information.
